The polyene selenyl ester (I) undergoes radical cyclization to the diquinane (II), whereas the selenyl esters (III) and (V) yield cyclopentenones (IV) and (VI). The allene-substituted selenyl ester (VII) gives an unusual cyclooctadienone (VIII).
