ChemInform Abstract

Permanent magnets are prepared from alloys of composition Ln13.7Fe63.5Co16.7B6 Zr0.1 (Ln: Pr, Nd) using a hydrogenation disproportionation desorption and recombination (HDDR) process. Annealing of the Pr13.7Fe63.5Co16.7B6 Zr0.1 alloy at 1100 °C (20 h) before HDDR processing produces a highly anisotropic magnetic material, whereas the Nd13.7Fe63.5Co16.7B6 Zr0.1 HDDR material prepared under the same conditions did not show significant permanent magnetic properties.
