ChemInform Abstract

Title compound (I) is isolated from the aerial parts of Centaurea musimomum. Its structural investigation by spectroscopic means and X-ray analysis shows that this sesquiterpene lactone possesses a seven-membered ring in a twisted-boat and two five-membered rings in envelope conformations. Its crystal structure is stabilized by intermolecular hydrogen bonds.
