ChemInform Abstract

Guanidine-substituted imidazoles (III) and (VI) are prepared and evaluated as inhibitors of the three isoforms of nitric oxide synthase. While the presented results do not clearly identify a compound capable of binding simultaneously to the heme and guanidine binding sites of NOS, they reveal (IIIb) as a new isoform selective inhibitor.
