The title compounds (III) are characterized by mass spectroscopy, 125Te NMR, and by the successful syntheses of the cyclic, seven-membered compounds (V) via reaction with the titanocene reagents (IV). The appearance of only one NMR resonance indicate an open-chain X-Te-Te-X structure rather than a branched X2Te=Te structure.
