ChemInform Abstract

The examinations are directed to the synthesis of Mannich bases related to the anorectic furfenorex. Aminomethylation is successfully carried out with salt (IIa) and furan or pyrrole while the reaction with thiophene fails. Salt (IIb) reacts with furan to give (IIIb). The reaction proceeds more easily using the 2-substituted heterocycles (Id)—(If). The substitution occurs exclusively in 5-position.
