ChemInform Abstract

Novel substituted azachalcone derivatives (III) and (IV) are prepared by Claisen—Schmidt condensation of 3,5-diacetylpyridines (I) with aromatic aldehydes. The ratio of mono- to bischalcone strongly depends on the reaction conditions. Spectral characteristics and preliminary results of antimycobacterial activities are given.
