ChemInform Abstract

A mixture of six 5-n-(2′-oxo)alkylresorcinols is isolated from etiolated rice seedlings. The structures of the components are determined by a combination of NMR and MS experiments. The mixture is found to inhibit spore germination of the fungus pyricularia oryzae. A possible biosynthetic pathway of rice alkylresorcinols is discussed, based on the composition of this mixture.
