ChemInform Abstract
The synthesis of two new heterocyclic systems (III) and (VI) is effected by the Ullmann reaction between 8-mercaptotheophylline (I) or 8-bromotheophylline (IV) with the appropriately substituted benzoic or nicotinic acid, respectively. The synthesis of the dithiobistheophylline (VII) is also reported.
