ChemInform Abstract

The reaction of the cyclopentenones (I) with sodium propenolate (II) as well as propargylate (V) represents a new and direct way to allyl- and propargylcyclopentenone ethers (III) and (VI), respectively. These derivatives smoothly undergo Claisen rearrangement to afford the 2-allyl(allenyl)-2-chlorocyclopenten-1,3-diones (IV) and (VII), respectively.
