ChemInform Abstract

Calix[n]arenes, e.g. CAL, are found to activate the enantioselective allylation of aldehydes, e.g. (I), catalyzed by a new Zr-BINOL complex, allowing the use of less than 2% of the catalyst. Phenols are less efficient than CAL in the reaction of aldehyde (Ia) with reactant (II).
