ChemInform Abstract

The title compound is prepared by hydrothermal reaction of Na2HPO4 and MgSO4×7H2O at 873 K (autoclave, ≈100 MPa). Mg3Na3(PO4)3 crystallizes in the orthorhombic space group P212121 with Z = 4. The structure contains three kinds of Mg—O polyhedra which form two types of infinite chains. The chains are connected to a three-dimensional framework via PO4 tetrahedra. The Na+ ions occupy vacancies of the framework.
