ChemInform Abstract

The total synthesis of enantiopure methylenedioxy derivatives such as (VI) and (VII) of the cytotoxic, antiviral and antifungal puupehenone and the antitumor, antimalarial and Topoisomerase II inhibition active oxopuupehenol is reported. Key steps are the regioselective dehydration of the alcohol (IV) and the stereoselective cyclization of (V).
