ChemInform Abstract

The alkylation of title compound (I) (related to the fungal metabolite 5-N-acetylardeemin, a potent reversal agent of multiple drug resistance in tumor cell lines) is investigated. Lithiation and electrophilic quench occurs regioselectively at the 1-position. The diastereoselectivity strongly depends on the alkyl halide (II).
