ChemInform Abstract

The type of nucleosides rather than the chirality of the catalyst plays an important role in the diastereoselectivity of the title reaction. Thus, thymidine and adenosine dimers are formed less diastereoselectively than the guanosine-thymidine coupling products shown in the scheme. However, the racemic catalyst leads to nearly the same diastereomeric ratio as shown in the scheme.
