ChemInform Abstract

A novel heterocyclization reaction is presented. Reaction of the methyl propiolate (I) with primary amines (II) gives the enamines (III) which on coupling with acetaldehyde and primary amines produce tetrahydropyrimidines (V) in moderate to high yields.
