ChemInform Abstract
Colorless, transparent single crystals of (Sb4O5)(ReO4)2 (I) are obtained by reaction of Sb2O3 with an aqueous solution of HReO4 and heating of the resulting hydrate, SbOReO4×2H2O, at 500 °C for 6 days. Structure determination by single-crystal XRD methods show that (I) (triclinic, P1, Z = 2) consists of cationic layers of (Sb(III) 4O5)2+ separated by ReO-4 ions. The layers are built-up from edge- sharing SbO3 trigonal pyramids forming Sb2O4 units which by sharing apices form infinite chains which are further connected by Sb4O8 rings.
