ChemInform Abstract

Treatment of the cyclic enol ethers (I) and (III) with Ti(BH4)3 results in unexpected formation of the ring cleavage diols (II) and ( IV). In contrast, the enol ether (V) as well as 1- trimethylsilyloxycyclohexene undergo normal hydroboration-oxidation reaction yielding cyclic alcohols such as (VI).
