An enantioselective total synthesis of antiulcer active (+)-cassiol ( XII) employing an efficient quaternary carbon construction methodology via a highly diastereoselective intramolecular (3 + 2) dipolar cycloaddition reaction of the nitrile oxide derived from oxime (VI) is accomplished.
