ChemInform Abstract

A new method for the synthesis of di(2-haloalkyl) disulfides by phosphorus halides or oxohalides promoted reaction of dithiobisamines with olefins is accomplished. Reaction of norbornadiene (IV) under the above conditions provides the expected disulfides (cf. (V)/(VI)) or the thiatricyclononane (VII) depending on the reactant ratio.
