Especially aldehydes and α,β-unsaturated aldehydes, e.g. ( Ia)-(Id), are reduced effectively under mild conditions using the title boranes, e.g. Ipc2BOtBu. Hexanal (Ia) is reduced selectively in the presence of acid chlorides, esters and ketones.
