ChemInform Abstract

High-purity polycrystalline Gd2CuO4 powders are prepared by a sol-gel process starting with the corresponding nitrates in the presence of urea. The synthesis conditions are optimized in order to produce small particles of Gd2CuO4 without any magnetic impurity (e.g. Gd2O3). Gd2CuO4 can be obtained at temperatures as low as 650 °C.
