ChemInform Abstract

2-Methylpyrroles (I) undergo allylic oxidation with iodosylbenzene in the presence of catalytic amounts of a highly chlorinated Fe(III) porphyrin. Subsequent addition of an α-free pyrrole provides an efficient synthesis of dipyrromethanes.
