ChemInform Abstract

Practical syntheses of anomerically pure 5-nitro-2′-deoxyuridines (cf. (VII)) and the hitherto unknown arafluoro nucleoside (X) and analyses of their in vitro anti-HCMV activity alone and in combination with ganciclovir are reported. It is found that uridine (VII) causes a synergistic enhancement of the overall antiviral efficacy of the two agents.
