ChemInform Abstract

A series of the title oxazolochromones (cf. (VIIc), (VIII)) are synthesized based on a Horner-Wadsworth-Emmons reaction and evaluated for their 5-lipoxygenase inhibitory activity. Several members of this series are more potent than TMK-777, which represents one of the most potent 5-lipoxygenase inhibitors so far known. The 3′,4′- dihydroxyphenyl derivative (cf. (VIII)) shows the highest potency in both ester and carboxylic acid form.
