ChemInform Abstract

The successful microbiological incorporation of the deuterated tetraketide (I) into (IIa) establish that the title metabolite (IIb) is composed from six acetate units. A biosynthetic scheme and cyclization mechanism, consistent with the experimental data, is proposed.
