ChemInform Abstract

Starting from the aldehyde (I) the allylic alcohols (III) are obtained with high enantiomeric excess. Their conversion to the novel chiral dienic alcohols (IV) and (V) via epoxidation, ring opening, oxidation and water elimination can also be achieved with the protected alcohols. The cyclopentadienes are used to prepare chiral cyclopentadienyl metal complexes as is demonstrated for (VII) and (VIII).
