ChemInform Abstract

(Vinylketene)iron complexes such as (I) react with electron-deficient alkenes to give the decarbonylated adducts (III) and (VI) which under oxidative conditions give a variety of organic products such as cyclopropanes, lactones or cyclobutanes. An X-ray crystal structure analysis of the adduct (III) and a mechanistic explanation for the formation of the adducts are presented.
