ChemInform Abstract

The displacement of activated alcohols by a tetrazole to give alkylated tetrazoles is investigated. This reaction is also applicable to epoxides. 5-Substituted tetrazoles, such as (VIII), form specifically one regioisomer. In case of cinnamyl alcohol a mixture of α- and γ-adducts is formed. The highly activated alcohol ( XI) reacts even in the absence of the catalyst.
