Coupling of the dihydropyran-functionalized support (I) with alcohols gives alcohol-attached solid supports for solid-phase synthesis. These are stable to both basic and nucleophilic reagents, but the alcohols can be cleaved with Py-TosOH in butanol/dichloroethane.
