The title compounds Ce2MnS4 (I) and EuLaGa3S7 (II) can be synthesized by three alternative methods: a) from stoichiometric mixtures of the elements; b) from the element sulfides or c) from MnS and metallic cerium or the ternary sulfides EuGa2S4/GaLaS3, resp., at 1250-1300 K. Compound (I) crystallizes in the hexagonal system, compound (II) in the tetragonal system. Moreover, data on the melt behavior and the solubility of the title compounds are given.
