ChemInform Abstract

GC-FTIR spectroscopy proves to be a simple and rapid method for the determination of the relative configuration of cis- and trans-2,6- disubstituted piperidines and 2,5-disubstituted pyrrolidines when present in very small amounts. This method is also applicable to complex mixtures such as extracts of alkaloids with piperidine or hydroquinoline moieties.
