ChemInform Abstract

The α,β-unsaturated ketones (I) undergo a mild lithium chloride mediated reaction under neutral conditions with the β- keto esters (II) to yield the cyclic enones (III) via consecutive Michael addition, decarboxylation, and aldol condensation.
