ChemInform Abstract

The isomeric ketols (II) and (III) are transformed to the chiral building blocks (IV) and (VII). Starting from the latter the spasmolytic amine (XII) is prepared. The opposite enantiomers of (IV) and (VII) can be synthesized from the diketone (I) via microbial reduction by Aspergillus niger.
