Dehydrofluorination of readily prepared chiral difluorophosphoranes ( III) in the presence of BuLi provides a mixture of two diastereomeric ylides with marked preference of one of them (cf. (IV)). Hydrolysis of ylides (IV) gives phosphinates (V) with retention of configuration.
