The functionalization of the title compound (X) is carried out via the carbinol (III) or by direct treatment of (X) with bromine. The products (V)/(VI), (VIII)/(IX) and (XI) (obtained as a single isomer, presumably the equatorial one) may be of interest as synthons in the preparation of natural compounds.
