ChemInform Abstract
The title compound, prepared from a molten Na, Sn, As (3:1:3) mixture, crystallizes in the tetragonal space group I41/acd, Z = 32. Its structure consists of 4 (SnAs4) tetrahedra connected by 3 common edges forming (Sn4As10)14- units which are arranged in layers perpendicular to (001). Each tetrameric unit of one layer is linked by terminal As atoms with 2 further units of the upper or lower layer forming a 3- dimensional framework with all As in 2-fold coordination and in which the Na atoms occupy distorted tetrahedral and octahedral sites.
