ChemInform Abstract

Under optimized reaction conditions, the biaryls (II) are obtained from the aryl triflates (I) as the main products, accompanied by small to moderate amounts of the corresponding phenols. The latter are recycled to give the initial aryl triflates. The reaction, when carried out in the presence of CO2 (IV), is extended to the preparation of the aromatic carboxylic acids (V).
