ChemInform Abstract

The imidodiphosphinate (I) forms the stable pseudo trigonal bipyramidal Sn(II) complex (III) and the stable octahedral Sn(IV) complexes (V). The last ones can also be obtained by halogen addition to (III) and solvolysis of the non-characterized 1:1 complexes from (I) and SnCl4 or SnBr4. A comparison of the X-ray structures of (III) and (Vb) indicates the presence of lone-pair stereochemical effect in (III) which is absent in (Vb).
