The azidoadenine (I) is irradiated in the alcohols (II) to form 2,6- diaminopurine (III), together with the alkoxydiaminopurines (IVa) and ( IVb). In order to verify its structure, (IVa) is alternatively prepared from the bromo analogue (V).
