ChemInform Abstract

The title reaction of (I) is more correctly a hydrolytic isomerization, occurring via pre-equilibrium protonation and subsequent C1-O7 bond rupture in the rate-limiting step. The study of the kinetic deuterium isotope effect shows that the reaction has both uni- and bimolecular features.
