ChemInform Abstract

Single crystals of the title tantalate, synthesized by reacting Ta2O5 and corundum (Al2O3) in oxidizing atmosphere at 1350 °C (48 h), belong to the monoclinic space group C2/m with Z = 4. In its structure Al3+ and Ta5+ are octahedrally surrounded by O2-. These polyhedra are linked by common edges and corners.
