ChemInform Abstract

Silicagel-supported zinc borohydride reduces the epoxides (I) and (VI) in tetrahydrofuran to yield exclusively or predominantly the alcohols ( II) or (VII). Reduction of trans-stilbene oxide (IV) or indene oxide ( IX) under these conditions only leads to the formation of the alcohols (V) or (X).
