Abstract

The trimethoxybenzene (I) is converted into the substituted benzoic acids (II).

ChemInform Abstract

The trimethoxybenzene (I) is converted into the substituted benzoic acids (II). Consecutive treatment of (II) with SOCl2 and aminomethylpyrrolidine (III) leads to the formation of the methoxylated benzamides (S)-(IV) which are demethylated with BBr3 to yield a mixture of the isomers (S)-(V) and (S)-(VI).
