ChemInform Abstract

The 4-anilino-1,8-dihydroxyanthraquinones (I) and (VII) are coupled with the anilines (II) in the presence of boric acid to give the title compounds (III) and (VIII). Reduction of the nitro group in (III) produces the corresponding amino derivatives (IV). (IVa) is coupled with propyl iodide (V) to form the bis(phenylamino)propylaminoanthraquinone (VI). The electronic spectra and the dyeing and fastness properties of the disperse dyes (III), (IV), (VI), and (VIII) are reported.
