ChemInform Abstract

The cationic title cluster (III) (space group P21/n, Z=4) can be prepared by an oxidative addition reaction with (Au(CN)2)- (II) as shown. Its structure is determined by X-ray analysis. The CO ligand in (Pt(CO)(AuPPh3)8)2+ generated from (I) cannot be replaced with CN-, but in a slow process two PPh3 ligands are replaced producing the neutral title compound (VI). The products are characterized by NMR, FAB-MS, and IR data.
