Abstract

The title complex (IV) (space group P21/n, Z=4) is prepared by reaction of Ni(cod)2 (I), (trans,trans,trans-1,5,9-cyclododecatriene)-Ni or tris(ethylene)-Ni with tmeda (II) and tetrafluoroethene (III) in 91-97% yield.

ChemInform Abstract

The title complex (IV) (space group P21/n, Z=4) is prepared by reaction of Ni(cod)2 (I), (trans,trans,trans-1,5,9-cyclododecatriene)-Ni or tris(ethylene)-Ni with tmeda (II) and tetrafluoroethene (III) in 91-97% yield. (IV) can also be obtained from the reaction of Ni(η3-C3H5)2/tmeda or (tmeda)NiMe2 with tetrafluoroethene (III). The structure of (IV) is determined by X-ray analysis. The reaction of (IV) with acetylene (V) leads to a Ni-induced coupling of ethyne and tetrafluoroethylene producing the nickelacyclopentene complex (VI).
