Abstract

The 2-pyridone derivatives (I) are O-alkylated with ethyl chloroacetate (II) to yield the pyridyl ethers (III) which are cyclized, forming the furo(2,3-b)pyridine derivatives (IV).

ChemInform Abstract

The 2-pyridone derivatives (I) are O-alkylated with ethyl chloroacetate (II) to yield the pyridyl ethers (III) which are cyclized, forming the furo(2,3-b)pyridine derivatives (IV). Acylation of the 3-amino group, hydrolysis of the ester, and cyclization of the acids (VII) obtained give the title compounds (VIII).
