ChemInform Abstract: Synthesis and Properties of the Derivatives of 2-Alkylthio-4-oxo-3,4-(and -1,4)-dihydropyrido(2,3-d)pyrimidine-5-(and -6)-carboxylic Acids.
Abstract
Diethyl 2-amino-6-methylpyridine-3,4-dicarboxylate (I) is cyclized with the isothiocyanates (II) to yield the thioxopyrido(2,3-d)pyrimidinecarboxylates (III).
ChemInform Abstract
Diethyl 2-amino-6-methylpyridine-3,4-dicarboxylate (I) is cyclized with the isothiocyanates (II) to yield the thioxopyrido(2,3-d)pyrimidinecarboxylates (III). These are S-alkylated to give the alkylthiopyrido(2,3-d)pyrimidine-5-carboxylates (V). The analogous pyrido(2,3-d)pyrimidine-6-carboxylates (VII) are obtained by S-alkylation of (VI). (Vb), (Vc), and (VIIb) inhibit the aggressiveness of isolated animals and show analgesic activity.
