Abstract

Treatment of the dicoumarol derivatives (I) with phosphorus oxychloride in pyridine (II) results in the formation of the zwitterionic heterocyclic compounds (III).

Treatment of the dicoumarol derivatives (I) with phosphorus oxychloride in pyridine (II) results in the formation of the zwitterionic heterocyclic compounds (III). Analogously, the hydroxycoumarin (IV) is converted to the heterocyclic system (V). (Mechanism, yields only given in g).
